It's big. It's brown. It's out-of-focus. And it's ours.
We knew we wanted a piano, Wood especially, but also we knew it would be awhile before we actually got one. However, where Wood works there is a place where people post items they are selling or giving away. And a family didn't want their piano anymore and were giving it away, so we glady took it off of their hands. Okay, the piano movers took it. There is no way we were getting it up to our second story apartment by ourselves!
It's an old, old Story and Clark. It could use a little fixing-up here and there (like the sustain pedal - though I think we can fix that ourselves, hopefully), but the sound is good and it's fun to be able to play. Wood plays more then I do - my 3 months of piano lessons before I started violin when I was 8 just doesn't cut it -go figure! Both of us have a lot to learn, but now we have something to practice on! And for the price we paid, the people also threw in some beginner piano books, so I'm going to give those a shot.
It's big. I think Wood comments on that every time he comes home from work. Our living-room coffee table is currently occupying our hallway, as seen in the background. But we'll figure it all out. In the mean time, it's exciting to just have some more music in our home!

Wow! Congratulations! I love having a piano , and I remember how much Wood enjoyed playing it ( we enjoyed having him play!) I guess I'll be sending your Enya book to you now...quite a bit quicker than we thought, huh! Enjoy !
Hey congratulations! When we were getting ready to move I was dreading getting the Masked Mallard's piano out. He, Tim, Elder Javich and I moved it in and it was such a chore. But this time he called the EQP, and I didn't have to touch it! Whew! By the way Woodine, I'm now in your old stomping grounds, what are some things I have to do or see before I leave?
Rocky Mountain National Park - definitely. The trails by Bear lake up to Emerald lake are probably pretty snowy right now - but if you're into snowshoeing it's a spectacular area. I love the Park. Estes Park is kind of a cool tourist town. How long are you in the area? Spring skiing is cheaper so you could try that. And there are tons of nature/bike trails. Other then that they got a new mall in Loveland (whoopie) and Ft. Collins is kind of a fun college town in the downtown part. There's a sculpture park. Most of the cool stuff, in my opinion, is outside!
That reminds me a lot of our big brown freebie piano! So happy for you.
What a great "addition" to your family!
Congrats. I love our new piano. The kids have had fun learning a few new songs. The boys will begin lessons this summer. I have had fun practicing and improving and have learned a few primary songs and a hymn here and there. I just wish I had more time to practice. Have fun!
Looks a lot like my parent's first piano (except it took them at least 15 years to get it). Sounds like fun.
Have fun moving the piano from place to place :)
The Mallard knows all about it! ;)
Woodine, I'm gonna be a mile high all summer long. I'm installing security systems here like the Mallard did in the Garden State a couple of years ago.
